The new F-GAS Regulation has been approved by the European Union

This regulation, an essential step towards a fully sustainable refrigeration industry, will affect the entire commercial and industrial refrigeration market.

Key measures include gradually phasing out the consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which will already see a reduction in quotas as of next year, reaching a residual minimum level of 16% of the current value in 2030, and then falling to zero in 2050.

The regulation also states that as of 1 January 2032, the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases with a GWP over 750 for the servicing and maintenance of stationary refrigeration equipment will be prohibited, i.e. it bans almost all currently used fluorinated refrigerants, except for reclaimed or recycled ones.

It is therefore crucial to make one’s purchasing decision now on a long-term basis, using appropriate technologies to address the ecological transition.

The most efficient technologies and products are already available in Italy, and at Criocabin, as producers of these technologies, we are working alongside retailers to assist them in this ecological, technological and social transition.
