Swiss gastronomy is unique and popular worldwide for its combination of alpine landscapes, centuries-old traditions and high-quality ingredients. From cheese makers producing well-known varieties of cheese, such as Gruyère and Emmental, to butcher shops selling high-quality meat and specialities, such as Bündnerfleisch (air-dried smoked beef), these shops are the beating heart of Swiss gastronomic culture.

On entering one of these shops, you embark on a journey to explore the genuine flavours of the region, and discover carefully crafted products made according to traditional methods handed down from generation to generation.

For this project, we will accompany you to some typical shops where, through the design of our display counters, you can admire and purchase the best Swiss butchered meat and gourmet products.

Let’s start at Caseificio Camenzind: a family-owned laboratory that has been making cheese specialities for more than 30 years, and now also runs a cheese boutique in Uster offering its delicacies. You will find them in our Ebony, a high-end bespoke display counter for gourmet products, featuring an elegant minimalist design, and in our Ethos Show refrigerated multideck display case for pre-packed products.

Moving on to butchered meat, we head to Spiess Markt, the shop belonging to the long-standing meat producer Gustav Spiess, which also has a distinct regional identity and family tradition. The self-service area of this shop was entirely entrusted to Criocabin. With its customised wooden front panel, Erin creates an all-around promotional island, where product visibility is maximised due to all surfaces being transparent. The refrigerated multideck display area was entrusted to Ethos Show, to which Ethos BT was multiplexed for low-temperature products. Energy creates additional focus points in the shop layout. It is ideal as a display case for the Grab&Go section of the butcher’s shop.

Then, for our last project, we go to the heart of Zurich, to the covered market, where you can find a small, refined butcher’s shop, Mini Metzg, which has turned this tradition into an art. For this typical yet special shop, which also has a wine bar, there were no compromises when it came to the butcher’s display counter: a custom high-end Etoile was the choice, with its prestigious unique finishes. For this project, a Genesis System coldroom and an Ethos Show refrigerated multideck display case were also installed, allowing butcher shops like this one to achieve practicality, speed and aesthetically appealing merchandising.
